Google +1 Button for WordPress

Google+1

By now you’ve noticed that Google’s +1 Button has launched earlier this month. Google +1 is Google’s version of the “Like” button and it’s Google’s way of telling Facebook that they are still a viable competitor in the SEO, ad and social space.

The thing about Google +1 is that it tells the world what you recommend. Google knows how valuable this is because as we all know, people are more likely to trust brands and people that their friends endorse. Hence, the power of +1. Similar to StumbleUpon and Digg, you recommend articles or ads that you come across on the web. In fact, according to Google’s blog:

“The beauty of +1’s is their relevance—you get the right recommendations (because they come from people who matter to you), at the right time (when you are actually looking for information about that topic) and in the right format (your search results).”

You can easily embed this in your blog or website by following the instructions on the Google developer blog.  However, if you want to add it to your WordPress (.org) blog, you’ll need a few extra steps. See WPBeginner’s blog post on this one. If you use WordPress.com – don’t worry, a plug-in is coming in the next few weeks.

Until then, remember that it’s browser specific. You can sign up to use Google +1 here..
