LinkedIn Polls for Market Research

When Aesop said “Slow and steady wins the race,” I am sure he wasn’t referring to LinkedIn,  yet I cannot help but tout what an awesome platform it is for everyone and how it just might win the social media battle.

The most overlooked tab on LinkedIn is the “More” tab. That’s where you can add apps and participate in LinkedIn Answers. One app is called polls, and the reason I love it so much is because of the data it gathers. It’s such a great market research tool.

For example, often people tell me that they don’t post status updates or comment in groups because they don’t see the value in it. But, here’s a poll where the result was 75% of the people do comment.

LinkedIn Polls

Just look at the demographics in that data return! Age, sex, seniority(job title), total votes. And the best part? It’s totally free! You can post your poll to Twitter & Facebook as well, and you can also embed the poll on your website or blog. The poll stays open for a month or you can close it sooner.
