StumbleUpon Gets a Face Lift

On December 4, 2011 the social bookmarking site StumbleUpon, gave itself an unexpected face lift. Trying to join the ranks of Facebook, StumbleUpon changed its “Stumbles” to “Likes” and that’s not all. After someone pointing out that their logo looked uncannily like Cascade  Complete detergent, they changed their logo too. Plus, they redesigned the experience of the StumbleBar and also give you a deeper experience with the Explore Box.

All in all, I think it’s a great enhancement for StumbleUpon. When you “Discover” you can now browse interests, channels, or other stumblers. Interests and stumblers appears to be the same, just a different layout.

For Channels, you can browse person, brand or site channels. Currently you cannot add your own channel, but you can request access to the beta by emailing partners@stumbleupon.com.

  • Person Channels are famous people, people of notoriety (personal brands).
  • Brand Channels are consumer brands, product brands.
  • Site Channels seem to be website channels that give news or blogs. But still waiting for confirmation from SU.
