If you are a small business then when Facebook announced a while back that you didn’t have to use a third party app to run a contest on your Facebook Page, you were probably elated. At the same time they announced that you could use Facebook features such as “likes and comments” as entries into a contest, which was something previously prohibited.
However, now, small businesses have options. At first many marketers thought that it would be really cumbersome to count and track entries without actually using a third party app, which would normally charge you.
But we should have known that where there is a need in social media, someone usually fills that void with in record time! The following 3 apps will help you run your Facebook contest and it won’t cost you a dime, except time and resources.
ContestCapture allows you to export ‘likes’ and comments from contest posts on Facebook. Connect your Facebook Page, select a post, and then you can export to a CSV file for free.
2. Woobox Promotions Manager
Woobox also released a free app that allows for page admins to easily select winners from a timeline post.
3. FanPage Karma’s Good Luck Fairy app, also free.
FanPage Karma’s “Good Luck Fairy” free app allows you to put your Page Post’s URL in the app and then it will magically generates lists from which you can choose a winner:
- All who liked the Page post
- All who commented on a Page post
- All who liked and commented on a Page post
- The comment with the most likes
Other ways to randomly draw a winner?
If you don’t have that many entries, then you can randomly draw a winner via a random generator picker tool:
- Well you could copy and paste your entries into http://www.randomresult.com/pick.php and it will pick a winner for you.
- There’s also http://www.randompicker.com/
Regardless of what you choose, remember you get what you pay for. Free is free, which means it is free of customer support as well. However, for small businesses and nonprofits, I think these are great choices for you to get your feet wet and run an inexpensive contest. And you know, we always like to have options!
