If you successfully manage a Facebook Page for your business then you already know that it can take a lot of work keeping up with posting and responding to fan engagement. However, some of the best Pages take the following four things into account when managing their Fan Pages. See how your habits compare.
4 Tips For Running An Effective Facebook Fan Page
- Adjust your schedule and respond. Managing a Facebook page is not a 9 to 5 gig. In many instances it requires you to respond to people before work or in the evening. Some people will tell you that as long as you respond it’s fine. However, if I only have time to engage with your brand in the evening and you respond to me in the evening, chances are I’ll reply to that response, feel validated, and probably come back and engage with your brand again. If you respond to me the next day I may never see it. Also, check your Facebook Insights and see when people are engaging with your brand’s content and adjust accordingly. (See this post for understanding how to read Facebook Insights).
- Invest in Sponsored Stories. Sponsored stories are a part of Facebook’s ad platform and a great way to organically show interaction with your brand through your fans to their friends. It works.
- Write for their news feed (not your Facebook wall) when writing a post. When you are writing a post consider where people are consuming that content. Studies have shown that 99% of people do not come back to the brand page itself to engage with it. That means they are seeing your updates in their news feed (hopefully). And what grabs people’s attentions in their news feed? Catchy headlines, images, videos, and their friends’ interactions.
- Quality over frequency. Did someone tell you to post every day? Well, in order to post every day and have high engagement, you need to post things that are relevant to your fans. And let’s face it, not all of your posts are going to be relevant to everyone. Posting less often but with higher quality posts that invoke engagement that you can interact with is what’s going to make your post go viral.
