As you already know, 90% of Facebook fans never come back to your Facebook Page once they like it. Twitter followers aren’t glued to their Twitter feed 24×7 a day either. Same goes for the other social networks. That’s why engaging your fans with your content is the only way to keep your content in their news feed and to gain potential new customers. After all, someone may not need your product or service right now, but when they do, you want your product/service to be top of mind.
Many B2B and B2C companies struggle with how to be “social” and focus far too often on what they’re doing or what they’re selling and forget that social media is about being social. It’s about sharing. Companies need to focus on sharing what’s relevant with their constituents. It’s not about giving them what you want them to hear or what you think they should hear, it’s about giving them what they think is relevant. Giving them what’s relevant means you need to share a little bit about your company’s style, ethics, and values, not to mention current events.
