How To Delete Your Instagram Account

Were you as upset as I was when you found out that Facebook acquired Instagram for about $1Billion dollars in cash and stock on Monday? What does that mean for you? It means that now Facebook has access to images that you thought it might not have otherwise and access to all of your location tagged photo data which they could use to market to you. Although Facebook said that they are going to leave Instagram alone as a standalone product, one has to wonder if you won’t be asked to integrate your Instagram account with Facebook or be forced to do so later down the road.

Fortunately there are options for saving your photos from Instagram before you delete your account.

Instaport – downloads your entire library of photos into a .zip file to your computer.

Copygram – downloads your library of photos to your computer

SocialFolders – this is like Dropbox for social media accounts. You can back up any social media account with SocialFolders.

Once you save your photos off of Instagram, here’s how to delete your account:

1. Click on this link to remove your Instagram profile. You’ll need to login to your profile.

NOTE: Download your photos first, and then click on this link.

2. Then you’ll need to give them a reason why you are leaving.
