How To Promote Your Online Learning Course

Online learning courseIn today’s busy world, online learning is the most convenient for people who want to gain new skills in a short time frame. Developing that course can be a lot of work, but it’s only half the battle. An online course that no one subscribes is essentially useless no matter how great the content.  Promoting your online course is the other half of the equation.

Here are 7 tips for promoting your online course.

  1. Friends & Family – seems like a no brainer but when it comes to first starting out, you need to let your friends and family know what you’re doing and let them know in an email that they can forward to other people who would be interested. Also consider offering a discount to them or for referrals. Say something like, “I’ve recently developed this new online course to help people with xxxx, and I’d love your help in promoting it.” Be shameless, it’s family for Pete’s sake!
  2. Optimize your landing page – make sure your online course description page is fully optimized with meta tags and keywords that people are most likely to search for and page titles attributes.  Not sure what they’re search for? Check out these free sources to find keywords in your niche.
  3. Email signature – add the course in your email signature with a catch phase that makes people want to click, like “Learn how to write that memoir!” or “Learn the ins and outs of Facebook marketing”
  4. Social media – Promoting on your social media networks only works if you have a following to begin with, but if you don’t have an online presence, you can try to solicit someone who does. Or, you can also promote in social media network groups or forums like LinkedIn groups or a Facebook Group you belong to. Also consider letting people know in online forums you participate in on a regular basis.
  5. Pay-Per-Click advertising – we all know what PPC ads can do for our website, just imagine what they can do for your online course. And don’t just limit youself to Google Adwords, consider LinkedIn Ads or Facebook Ads, depending on where your prospects are hanging out.
  6. Inform your contacts/prospects – building your email base is your bread and butter so take this opportunity to let them know what you are doing.
  7. YouTube – you’d be surprised at how many people look for How-To videos on YouTube. Simply post a snippet of your online course on your YouTube channel and make sure that you optimize your YouTube video posting.
