LinkedIn’s new “share” button and why you should use it

Last week LinkedIn announced a new feature of a “share” button in which you can easily add to your website and blogs with just a few lines of code. As I said last week, don’t under estimate the power of LinkedIn for your business. LinkedIn already has a powerful presence with their Groups feature, much like Facebook does, and now they are allowing you to automatically spread the word with a click of a button. The new LinkedIn share button allows you to effectively and easily share your content, news, press releases, white papers, etc with other interested professionals.

There is some chatter out there about LinkedIn having to compete with Facebook and Twitter, but I see it as just one more touch point for you to add to your repertoire.  Besides, things that people share on Facebook are far different than what they share on LinkedIn or Twitter. Facebook is more for personal sharing such as photos, what you’re up to and where you’re heading. If LinkedIn is competing with anyone it would be Twitter, but Twitter need not be worried. People are not going to supplement one for the other, but instead they’ll just populate both to expand their reach.
