Maximizing your LinkedIn Profile

All social media strategists will agree on two things about social media: make it easy for people to engage and be social. But that first one is often the one that most struggle with in accomplishing. When we think about LinkedIn, as writers we should be thinking more about how it increases our search engine rank for our name, website or blog.

It’s not only important to link your website or blog to your LinkedIn profile but if I found you on LinkedIn through a search on LinkedIn, then let me know the name of your website or blog instead of the generic. See below:

Here’s how you do it:

  1. Edit your LinkedIn profile. Scroll down to websites. Click Edit.
  2. Next, choose “Other” from the pull down instead of blog, Company or website.
  3. Don’t forget to also update your public profile link. See image below for steps #2 & #3.
