BREAKING: New Facebook Insights for Page Admins: Transparent and Easier To Understand

Not that long ago, Facebook rolled out a new version of Facebook Insights. But due to the overwhelming feedback they received, they needed to make a few more changes — and are still going to make more changes. Today they rolled out some new features and simplified metrics. A breath of fresh air from the old Insights.  In their blog post they explain what’s new and what’s changed.

In a nutshell the new graphical interface:

  • Split out People Talking About This (PTAT) into separate elements:  Page Likes, People Engaged (the number of unique people who have clicked on, liked, commented on, or shared your posts), Page tags and mentions, Page checkins and other interactions on a Page.
  • Renamed “Virality” metric to “Engagement Rate” and BONUS: it now includes “clicks” – hallelujah!
  • Created specific charts (score cards) for positive ((likes, comments, shares and clicks) and negative feedback/interactions (hide post, hide all posts, report as spam, unlike page) for posts
  • You can now see who your posts have reached and who has engaged under the People tab — brilliant!

For the visual folks, here’s a tutorial video from me (8.5 minutes). Bookmark for later or share it on social with your colleagues. Enjoy! And let me know if you have any questions. I know data can be a painstaking process to sift through if you don’t really like data to begin with.
